Several area residents have been selected to receive a Governor’s Volunteer Award this fall.

Dave Duncan of Columbus Junction, Sheila Gerot of Riverside, Jade Johnston of Fairfield, Ruth Van Auken of Winfield, Roger Weber of Kalona, and students of Columbus Community High School will be recognized. They’ll be honored by Governor Kim Reynolds and Lt. Governor Adam Gregg at a special ceremony on October 27 in Ottumwa. Coordinated by Volunteer Iowa, the Governor’s Volunteer Award program, now in its 34th year, honors volunteers that have put forth an estimated 31,000 hours of service with an economic impact of more than $727,000 in the past year.
