Autumn has officially begun. Each year the autumnal equinox is on September 22nd, the official start of fall.

It is one of two days each year when night and day are most equal in length. As fall moves in, Washington has had hot temperatures and heavy rain this week. On Wednesday, the record high temperature set in 1940 was tied at 93 degrees. Also, on Wednesday Washington received about a quarter of an inch of rain with an additional 1.5 inches on Thursday. Mostly sunny skies with highs in the upper 80s are expected this weekend. Listen to KCII for weather updates.
