The Washington 7th and 8th grade cross country teams competed at Fort Madison on Thursday night.

The middle school race was 2.25 miles and there was no team scoring for their division. Leading the way for the girls was Tori Hinson who placed sixth with a time of 16:02. Katelyn Dennis of Fort Madison won the event with a time of 15:14. Kelsey Pacha was the next Demon to cross the finish line placing eighth and Greta Rothe managed 14th. Other top Washington finishers were Chloe Staley in 16th and Grace Voss placed 20th.

For the boys, Lance Sobaski led the way finishing fourth with a time of 13:42. Holy Trinity’s Philip Goldie won the race with a time of 12:38. Other top finishes for the Demons were Elijah Morris in 18th, Quinn Wubbena 26th, Jacob Miller 28th, and Drew Horak 30th.

The Demons get back on the course Tuesday traveling to Mount Pleasant.
