It was homecoming week for the Columbus Community football team but they saw it spoiled on Friday night when they fell to Louisa-Muscatine 30-8.

Despite Abel Mena and company getting the passing game going, the Falcon defense smothered the Wildcat chances at scoring. Mena threw for his first 100-yard game by completing 13 of his 27 passes for 148 yards. Columbus Community’s lone touchdown came on a one-yard touchdown run by Mena and he finished the night with 48 rushing yards. Mena threw to Tommy Pretz for the successful two-point conversion. Pretz led the team receiving with five catches for 55 yards. Defensively Nick Hernandez and Bryan Solis led the Wildcats with three tackles apiece. Pretz and Chance Colby managed interceptions for the Wildcats.

With the win the Falcons improve to 2-2 as the Wildcats drop to 1-3. Columbus will get back at it Friday hosting Wapello (2-2).
