The Lone Tree Lion football team hosts Baxter tonight in a district showdown for Homecoming.

The Lions enter play at a perfect 5-0 on the season. The Lions are ranked No. 5 in this week’s 8-man poll from the Iowa Associated Press. The Lions are coming off of a week four 55-6 win over English Valleys. Harmon Miller had a big night through the air, going six of nine for 143 yards and three touchdowns, one each to Avery Knock, Aaron Slaughter and Brock Smith. Bryce Houser had 10 carries for 92 yards and a pair of scores on the ground.

On the season Miller leads the Lion passing attack at 30 for 54 with 507 yards, nine touchdowns and no interceptions. His favorite target is Brock Smith with 11 grabs for 241 yards and four touchdowns. On the ground Lone Tree is led by Houser with 76 carries for 525 yards and 11 scores. Smith is the leading tackler for the Lion defense with 36.5 stops on the year, four tackles for loss and a pair of sacks.

Baxter enters tonight at 3-1 on the year. They are receiving votes in this week’s Associated Press Poll. Last week they beat East Union on the road 72-50. Braydon Aker was 17 of 27 through the air for 371 yards and eight touchdowns. Travis Lindemoen hauled in 11 balls for 267 yards and six touchdowns. Baxter forced six turnovers in the win. On the season Aker is 56 of 94 for 1,000 yards, 20 touchdowns and three interceptions. Lindemoen is his favorite target with 25 catches for 625 yards and 12 touchdowns. Aker also leads the ground attack with 45 carries for 179 yards and five scores. Marcus Mitchell is the leading tackler for the Baxter defense with 34.5 stops, six tackles for loss and a sack.

Action begins tonight at 7:30 at Lone Tree High School.
