The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk volleyball team is hosting their annual Hawk Tournament today at Tim Grady Gymnasium in Wellman.

The tournament includes area schools Washington and Sigourney. Mid-Prairie enters play with an overall record of 3-7. In their last action Thursday they were swept by No. 10 in class 3A West Liberty. On the season the Hawks are led by Maya Hall with 37 kills. Caitlyn Riggan has the team lead with 123 assists and the Mid-Prairie defense is led by Alison Yoder with 113 digs.

The Washington Demons come into the day with an overall record of 2-13, in their last action they dropped four matches at the Ottumwa tournament last weekend, falling to Ottumwa, Eddyville-Blakesburg, Davis County and Fairfield. On the year Washington is led by Isabel Bailey with 44 kills. Megan Mitchell has the team lead and is sixth in the Southeast Conference with 93 assists. Morgan Brinning leads the Demon defense and is 10th in the conference with 94 digs.

Sigourney enters play with an overall record of 4-7. In their last action they swept Tri-County in three sets. On the year the Savages are led by Brooke Waechter with 80 kills. Leah Carter has the team lead and is eighth in the South Iowa Cedar League with 154 assists. Sydney Striegel leads the Sigourney defense with 85 digs.

Also at today’s tournament are No. 10 in class 3A West Liberty, No. 10 in class 2A Iowa City Regina and No. 14 in class 2A Bellevue.
