With less than two months on the job, inventory of supplies and plans has been part of recent work by Washington County’s Emergency Management Coordinator.

At Friday’s Washington County’s Preparedness Consortium meeting coordinator Marissa Reisen explained she’s been working to make contacts with possible shelter locations should the community need them, as well as looking at what equipment the county already has on hand. Washington County has a bio-terrorism decontamination trailer, not a sheltering trailer. There is access within the district at Mahaska and Marion Counties for a sheltering trailer. With that, Washington County has access to other supplies in the district to things like cots, and personal hygiene kits. She explained these are things that they can look to acquire a piece at a time. The current trailer also needs some maintenance, and she’s going to have the county roads department take a look at it. In addition, Reisen’s looking to get a certified emergency response team, or CERT, set up in the county.
