The Keokuk County Board of Supervisors is holding a special meeting today for an official canvass of a recount of the Sigourney School District.

A recount was requested September 15 after official results were released of the election. The September 15 results stated that Cody Branstad had 110 votes and Mike Bensmiller had 108 votes for a director at large position. The election was for three director at-large positions, and Branstad and Bensmiller had the third and fourth largest number of votes. Keokuk County Auditor Christy Bates says a recount was done September 19, that showed there was only one vote between Branstad and Bensmiller. The results will be recanvassed by the supervisors and the winner of the seat will be announced after the meeting.
