It’s a battle of area teams on the gridiron Friday night as Sigourney-Keota (2-3) hosts Columbus Community (1-4) for homecoming.

After a tough start to the season, the Cobras have picked up steam coming off of a 48-16 win over Van Buren last week. The run-heavy Cobras lead the district with 1,574 yards on the ground. Carson Crawford has produced much of those yards with 803 on the year and nine touchdowns. Quarterback Luke Greiner has completed 23 of his 44 passes for 445 yards, and added over 400 yards on the ground.

The Cobra offense will look to run over a Wildcat defense that has given up an average of 30 points per game. After an opening season win against Winfield-Mt. Union, the Wildcats will try to snap a four-game losing skid. Of the 1,093 yards of total offense Abel Mena has accounted for 822 of them. The dual-threat quarterback has collected 496 yards on the ground and 336 yards through the air on 28 of 59 passes.

The matchup gets started at 7 p.m. tonight at Sigourney High School.
