Cooler temperatures are settling in after record highs experienced locally on Saturday and Sunday. In the first week of autumn, temperatures have ranged from 93 degrees down to 52 degrees Wednesday morning. According to the National Weather Service, so far this month the average temperature has been 67.5 degrees about three degrees above normal. While temperatures for September have been above normal, precipitation has been short. The normal amount for the first 26 days of September is 3.2 inches and Washington has had 2.3 inches of rain.
