The #10 ranked Lone Tree (2-0) football team will look to keep their unblemished record intact tonight when they entertain HLV (1-1) for their home opener.

Through the first two contests the rushing attack has been impressive for the Lions, combining for 472 yards and 11 touchdowns. The experience upfront with seniors Wesley Hotz and Casey Shalla has paved the way for Bryce Houser, who has been a workhorse with 219 yards on 35 attempts and three scores. Look for this to be an area of the HLV defense the Lions exploit, as the Warriors gave up 300 yards on the ground last week in their loss to Iowa Valley.

First-year quarterback Harmon Miller has looked poised for Lone Tree, completing 12 of his 21 passes for 163 yards and three touchdowns. Defensively, the Lions are coming off of a shutout in last week’s win against Tri-County. Hotz and Cale Yoder lead the way with 12 tackles apiece.

The Warriors have found some success on the ground as well with 461 yards. Chase Sternhagen has been a scoring machine with six touchdowns on 230 yards rushing. Under center Cody Frahm has thrown for 189 yards and three touchdowns. The HLV defense has given up 30 points per game on the young season.

The action gets started at 7 p.m. tonight at Lone Tree High School.
