A potential historic district in the City of Washington includes 148 properties and a meeting about listing the West Side Residential Historic District on the National Register of Historic Places is being held Tuesday.

The city’s Historic Preservation Commission is holding the meeting to inform property owners about the benefits of owning a property on the register, and to answer any questions. The district includes the residential blocks from Avenue B to Sunset Park along West Washington, West Main, and West Jefferson. The commission received a grant in the spring to develop a nomination for the district, after completing an architectural and historic survey of the neighborhood. If listed, there are financial incentive programs for building owners.

The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday evening at the Washington Public Library.
