Passersby may hear music swelling from the Salem Welsh Presbyterian Church this weekend as Welsh culture and heritage will be celebrated in Columbus Junction.

Welsh baritone singer and musical director Trefor Williams will be returning for the first time in four years to perform at the Noson Lawen event at 7 p.m. Saturday. Noson Lawen in Welsh refers to a party with music, and the event will include singing, skits, storytelling, and performances from those who’d like to participate. The weekend will conclude with Gymanfa Ganu at 2 p.m. Sunday, which is a traditional Welsh hymn sing, followed by light refreshments. Event organizer Kay Rees Davis says anyone who is interested in listening or being a part of this musical Welsh weekend is croeso, or welcome, to attend.
