The Columbus Community cross country team hosted the Mike Jay Invitational on Monday at Cedarcrest Golf Course.

On the girls’ side Highland took home the title with 56 points. Leading the day for the Huskies was a pair of freshmen. Madison Thomann was fifth with a time of 23:09 and seven seconds later Taylor Sublette finished in sixth place. Zoe Mahler also had a successful run placing 12th.

Winfield-Mt. Union placed fourth at the meet with 68 points. The big story for the Wolves was senior Pearl Krieger-Coble taking home the individual title with a time of 21:12. Cecilia Hemsworth cracked the top 10 in eighth and Isabella Mertens was 16th.

Columbus and Keota did not receive team scores. Jenessa Carpenter led the Wildcats in 11th with a time of 23:49 and Odalyz Valdez was 24th. Keota’s Jenna Jaeger was 26th and Laurie Amos was 28th.

For the boys, Winfield-Mt. Union placed fourth with 88 points. Durant nabbed the team title with 46. After a runner-up finish at conference last week, freshman Brody Barton followed that up with another second place run with a time of 17:52. Jarod Kadel was ninth and Asa Gipple was 14th.

Columbus placed sixth with 121 points. Senior Marc Estrada paced the Wildcats in 13th with a time of 19:02. Hunter Humiston was 15th and Johnny Espinosa was 26th.

Highland was eighth at the meet with 199 points. Bryan Redlinger led the team in 32nd with a time of 20:46. Mason Manley was 38th and Jacob Roling 47th.

Turner Klein led Keota placing 12th with a time of 19:01 and Jayden Lawson was 40th.
