It’s a busy day Saturday at the Lakeside Municipal Golf Course in Fort Dodge as they host the 2017 State Cross Country Championship Meet.

The Washington Demons will be represented by Brennan Horak today in Fort Dodge. The Washington Senior finished 14th at the state qualifier meet in Pella on October 19th to advance to state. He’s the first Demon boys runner to make the trip since 1999.

The Mid-Prairie boys qualified for state as a team, bringing home the state qualifier meet team title from Central College in Pella October 19th. Mid-Prairie, last year’s class 2A state team champions are looking to defend their title, they enter the race ranked No. 1 in class 2A with four ranked runners in their lineup. Floyd Evans is No. 4 in class 2A, Peyton Miller No. 13, Zach Pettit No. 25 and Quinn Schmidt No. 30.

The Mid-Prairie girls qualified for state as a team, bringing home the state qualifier meet team title from Central College in Pella October 19th. Mid-Prairie, last year’s third place class 2A team, is looking to bring home the program’s first ever state championship as they enter action today ranked No. 1. The Golden Hawks have three ranked runners in their lineup including last year’s state individual runner-up Marie Hostetler at No. 1, last year’s individual state champion Anna Hostetler No. 5 and Ana Fleming No. 11.

Iowa Mennonite School’s Levi Geyer makes the trip to Fort Dodge for the second year in a row. The senior qualified by finishing eighth at the state qualifier meet in Solon October 19th. At last year’s state meet Geyer finished 25th.

Highland’s Taylor Sublette will be on the course in Fort Dodge for the state meet. The freshman for the Huskies made her way to state with a 12th place finish at her state qualifier in Solon.

Winfield-Mt. Union’s Pearl Krieger-Coble is also at state today. Krieger-Coble, a senior, advanced to state for the first time in her career with a seventh place finish at last week’s qualifier in Solon.
