The Washington cross country team traveled to Fort Madison on Thursday where they competed in the Southeast Conference meet.

The girls’ team managed fourth place with 71 points. Mount Pleasant won the crown with 36 points. Brooke Stout took home all conference honors by cracking the top 10 placing seventh with a time of 21:34. Molly Sparks also received all conference placing ninth. Other Demon finishers were Ashley Telleen in 16th, Meredith Raber 17th, Peyton Cuddeback 23rd, and Josie Tanner 29th.

The boys’ team also finished fourth with 81 points while Mount Pleasant swept the titles winning with 34. The Horak brothers each nabbed all conference honors with Brennan finishing fifth with a time of 17:36 and Evan was right behind in eighth. Other top Demon finishers were Jacob Van Osdol in 14th, Matthew Collett 26th, Blake Hartzler 28th, Kiowa Keith 31st, and Ben Loy 32nd.

The Demons will next be in action Thursday traveling to Pella for districts.
