The Iowa Association of Track Coaches released their final set of rankings for the 2017 cross country season Tuesday.

In the final standings before the state meet Saturday in Fort Dodge the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys and girls both are the No. 1 ranked team in class 2A. The Mid-Prairie girls sit atop the poll for the ninth straight week. They have been first since August 29th. In their last action the Golden Hawks brought home the team championship at the state qualifier meet in Pella Thursday to qualify for the state meet. Mid-Prairie has three ranked runners in their lineup led by Marie Hostetler at No. 1 in class 2A. Anna Hostetler, the individual state qualifier champion, and reigning individual state champion is No. 5 in the state and Ana Fleming stands at No. 11.

The Mid-Prairie boys have returned to the No. 1 spot in the class 2A team poll for the first time since September 5th. The defending state champions brought home the state qualifier meet championship from Central College in Pella last week to qualify for Saturday’s state meet.  The Golden Hawks have four ranked runners in their lineup led by Floyd Evans at No. 4 in class 2A. Other ranked runners include Peyton Miller at No. 13, Zach Pettit at No. 25 and Quinn Schmidt at No. 30.

Both teams will be in action in Fort Dodge at Saturday’s state championship meet. The Mid-Prairie girls will be on the course at 1p.m. with the Mid-Prairie boys running at 1:30. You can hear live updates from Fort Dodge all day Saturday on AM and FM KCII.
