A strong showing for the Mid-Prairie boys and girls cross country teams capped the regular season at Thursday’s River Valley Conference Championships hosted by Iowa City Regina at the Iowa City Kickers Complex.

The Golden Hawk girls grabbed the first conference championship in program history with a team score of 31 points. Monticello was second with 51 points. The Golden Hawks were led by individual conference champion Marie Hostetler with a time of 18:29. Other Golden Hawk finishers included Anna Hostetler second, Ana Fleming fourth, Abbagail Evans 10th, Kate Cavanagh 21st, Kessa Jones 27th, Kyleigh Graham 53rd, Sarah Meader 62nd, Sophia Norman 63rd, Shelby Zahradnek 81st, Kitty Conway 87th, Jill Owen 88th, and Zebi Kimani 110th.

The Golden Hawk boys finished as runners up with a team score of 74 points. Bellevue won the team championship with 34 points. Mid-Prairie was led by Floyd Evans with his third place overall finish in 17:26. Other runners for the Golden Hawks included Peyton Miller 11th, Quinn Schmidt 13th, Cary Schaefer 22nd, Marshal Teets 25th, Miles Burrows 31st, Samson Kimani 35th, Lucas Bontrager 48th, David Fleming 65th, Spencer Yutzy 79th, Jamison Stutzman 92nd, Elmir Ganibegovic 99th, Luke Albright 124th, Austin Bontrager 129th, Jack Schlabaugh 135th, Dallas Miller 141st, Levi Stultz 142nd, Eli Van Roekel 156th and Ethan Hall 162nd.

The Golden Hawks will next be on the course Thursday at the state qualifier meet in Pella.
