Golden Hawks, lace up your running shoes.

The Mid-Prairie Student Boosters are hosting a color run, in which participants get showered with colored powder. This is the first year the student boosters are holding the fundraiser for the entire district, since the combined school booster group formed over the summer. Event coordinator Sara ODonnell describes what they are raising funds for, “We decided as a group that we want to fund enrichment activities at each of the schools. So that could be field trips, bringing in speakers or events, like we had the opera come one year which the kids really enjoyed. But we wanted it to be a way that we could add to what the kids are getting at their normal schools.”

Participants can register online for the run in advance, or in-person the day of the event. There will be activities following the run for families, including a silent auction, raffle, kids inflatables, and games. A freewill offering supper will be served. Those who wish to donate to the run or the silent auction can visit the Mid-Prairie Student Boosters Facebook page. The color run is at 4 p.m., October 21, at Mid-Prairie Middle School in Kalona.
