Thunderstorms brought heavy rain across the KCII-listening area Saturday.
According to the National Weather Service, Washington received 0.55 inches of precipitation Saturday. Due to the amount of rain received in Louisa County, part of Highway 61 was closed Saturday afternoon. The closure was issued by the Iowa Department of Transportation because high water was standing on the highway between 170th Street and Louisa-Muscatine Schools. While the Iowa River at Columbus Junction remained below flood stage at 12.9 feet over the weekend, there was a spike in water flow at 10,805 cubic feet per second Sunday. More rain fell south of the KCII-listening area with Burlington getting just under two inches of rain throughout the day Saturday.
Mostly sunny skies are expected in Washington this week, listen to KCII for weather updates.
