The Highland football team got an exciting homecoming win on Friday as they squeaked by Van Buren 13-12.

Trey Lasek was the catalyst offensively as he racked up nearly 300 yards of total offense. The junior quarterback was 13 of 33 for 181 yards through the air and connected with Brady Hahn for two touchdowns. Hahn had eight receptions for 119 yards and had both of the Huskies scores. Lasek also added 104 yards rushing on 26 carries. The Huskies’ defense held Van Buren to 226 yards of total offense and forced two turnovers. Cole Adamson and Hahn led the team with seven tackles.

With the win Highland improves to 2-4 as Van Buren drops to 1-5. Highland gets back on the gridiron Friday traveling to Columbus Community (1-5).
