The Highland school board discussed what next steps to take in continuing their sharing discussions with the Lone Tree Community School District.

Both school boards held a joint work session on August 28 to brainstorm new sharing possibilities, including superintendent. On October 9 the Highland school board made a prioritized list of possible sharing agreements in the order of operational sharing, instructional sharing, and extra curricular/other.

With difficulties in coordinating both board’s schedules for a joint meeting, Superintendent Dr. Mike Jorgensen made a different suggestion, “Maybe the next best step would be to allow Nate [Robinson] and the Lone Tree president just to get together for a lunch or whatever with the two superintendents and maybe confirm where Lone Tree is with this. I know what their superintendent tells me. It’s not that I don’t trust them but I’d like to hear it from them and see what their interest level is. Then have the presidents bring that back to you guys and determine the next steps from there.”

The board moved to have both Highland and Lone Tree board presidents and superintendents meet to set the agenda for a joint meeting with both boards, and to have the joint board meeting on November 8 or 29.
