November 7th is election day for city seats and voters will be asked to provide identification at the polls.

While a person will be asked for an ID, it will not be required to vote until January 1, 2019. According to the Washington County Auditor’s Office, the Iowa Secretary of State directed poll workers beginning in September’s school elections to ask for identification at the polls. Acceptable forms include a current U.S. Passport, U.S. Military ID card, U.S. Veteran’s ID, voter registration card, or a driver’s license. The new Washington County poll equipment has a scan option for driver’s licenses to make it quick and accurate for voting.

Early voting is now available in person at the auditor’s office or by mail.
