The No. 12 Lone Tree football team will see a familiar foe across the field tonight in their first round 8-man playoff matchup when they travel to Victor to take on the No. 13 HLV Warriors.

These two teams met in week three of the regular season with Lone Tree scoring a 39-24 win at home. The Lions enter play with an overall record of 8-2 on the year. They were 5-1 in 8-man district four, qualifying for the playoffs with an automatic spot as runners-up in the district. In their last game they were beaten by Midland 52-20. Harmon Miller was six of 10 through the air for 75 yards, a touchdown and an interception. Bryce Houser had 15 carries on the ground for 74 yards and a score. The Lions undoing were three turnovers and surrendering 444 yards of total offense.

On the season Lone Tree is led by Miller under center who is 59 of 111 through the air for 1,067 yards, 16 touchdowns and just two interceptions. His favorite target is Brock Smith with 534 yards on 25 grabs with seven touchdowns. Houser has been the workhorse on the ground with 180 attempts for 1,293 yards and 25 touchdowns. Smith also leads the Lion defense with 76 total tackles including 12 for loss and 10 sacks. The Lions are looking for their first playoff win since 2011.

HLV comes into the night with an 8-2 overall record. The Warriors were the undefeated champions of 8-man district five. In their last game they beat Twin Cedars 58-14. Cody Frahm was two for three through the air for 32 yards and a score. Brandon Schafbuch had 10 carries for 113 yards and a pair of touchdowns. On the season the Warriors are led by Frahm through the air at 32 of 68 for 556 yards, 10 touchdowns with just one interception. His favorite target is Mitch Thys with 12 grabs for 193 yards and three touchdowns. On the ground Chase Sternhagen and Schafbuch split carries, combining for 200 totes, 1,815 yards and 38 touchdowns.

These two teams last met in the playoffs in 2010 with HLV taking a 35-24 win.
