The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys and girls cross country teams make the trip to the Iowa City Kickers Complex today to defend their crown at the River Valley Conference Championship meet.

The Mid-Prairie girls enter action as the No. 1 ranked team in class 2A according to the Iowa Association of Track Coaches. In their last action the Hawks took the team championship at the Iowa Mennonite Invitational in Wellman last week, led by Marie Hostetler and her individual title. The Golden Hawks have three ranked runners in their lineup led by No. 1 in class 2A Marie Hostetler. Anna Hostetler is No. 4 and Ana Fleming stands at No. 15 in this week’s poll. The Golden Hawks are joined at tonight’s meet by No. 4 in 2A Monticello, No. 9 in 2A North Cedar, and No. 11 in 2A Iowa City Regina, West Branch, West Liberty, Tipton, Wilton, Durant, Camanche, Northeast Goose Lake, Bellevue and Cascade.

The Mid- Prairie boys enter action as the No. 3 ranked team in class 2A. Mid-Prairie took home the team title at last week’s Iowa Mennonite Invitational their last time on the course, led by an individual runner up finish from Floyd Evans. The Golden Hawks have one ranked runner in their lineup with Evans standing at No. 8 in this week’s poll. The Golden Hawks are joined at tonight’s meet by No. 2 in 2A Tipton, No. 2 in 1A Bellevue, Northeast Goose Lake, Camanche, North Cedar, Durant, Wilton, West Liberty, West Branch, Monticello, Iowa City Regina and Cascade.
