The Washington 7th and 8th grade boys’ and girls’ cross country teams finished off their season in Fort Madison on Thursday for the Southeast Conference meet.

The girls’ headlined the action taking home the conference title with 49 points. Fort Madison nabbed second place honors with 60 points. Kelsey Pacha was a big reason for the Demons’ success placing sixth with a time of 15:26 in the 2.25 miles course. Tori Hinson clocked in six seconds later to manage seventh and Greta Rothe was ninth. Other top Demon runners were Grace Voss 13th, Grace Schiebel 17th, Chloe Staley 21st, Elyse Hunt 27th, and Ellie Anderson 30th.

The boys finished fourth with 76 points while Fort Madison protected their home course winning with 52 points. The Demons had two top five runners that were awarded all conference honors. Lance Sobaski was meet runner up with a time of 13:24 and Elijah Morris finished 15 seconds later in fifth. Other top Demon runners were Quinn Wubbena in 21st, Jacob Miller 22nd, Drew Horak 26th, and Cameron Vongpanya 28th.
