Washington football standout Ryan Reighard recently committed to take his talents to Ames and play for Iowa State University next fall.

The senior accepted a preferred walk-on offer last week as a linebacker/safety. Other schools that were interested in Reighard were Iowa, Northern Illinois, Illinois State, and Northwest Missouri State where he went to their camps this past summer. When asked why Iowa State seems like a nice fit he gave credit to the coaching staff. He noted that head coach of the Cyclones Matt Campbell is a “really good guy and has a staff that set themselves apart from the other teams.” Throughout his three-year varsity career Reighard has compiled over 5,000 all -purpose yards and has been involved with 62 touchdowns. Since suffering an injury in week two the senior converted to linebacker where he has managed 28 tackles on the year and one fumble recovery.

Reighard has been recruited at the right time to become a Cyclone as this week they cracked the top 25 in the AP poll for the first time in 12 years. You can see Reighard and his Washington teammates battling on the gridiron Friday at Davenport Assumption for the first round of the class 3A playoffs.
