Overall, this September was warmer and dryer than normal in Washington.

According to the National Weather Service, Washington’s average temperature last month was 66.4 degrees, above the normal 64 degrees. Also, the average maximum temperature for September is normally just under 77 degrees and this year it was observed at 81.6 degrees.

Last month, Washington received 2.33 inches of precipitation, more than an inch below the nomral 3.6 inches. Total precipitation for the year in the first nine months is usually 29.5 inches and this year it’s been observed at more than five inches lower at 24.2 inches.
