Get spooked this Friday the 13th as the Winfield Community Development Group opens Madness in the Machine Shed.

This is the third year of the haunted house experience, raising funds for the upcoming Rick Rodgers Community Pool. Winfield Deputy City Clerk Lisa Rees says they’ve added more rooms to the machine shed, and have incorporated some motifs of the horror movie “It.” Rees isn’t a horror fan herself, but she admires the drive of those helping with the event, “When you go in this one you can truly feel the passion of everybody working the haunted house. These guys, it’s on their mind all year. They think about new and creative ways to spook people. You can go through it 10 times in one year and it’s different every time. They make it special for everybody that comes through.”

For those who dare to be scared Madness in the Machine Shed opens Friday the 13th from 9 p.m. to midnight, October 20 and 21 and October 27 and 28 from 8 p.m. to midnight. A lighted walk through the machine shed will be on October 28 from 6-7 p.m. Those 14 and younger must be accompanied by an adult. There will be a concession stand, and t-shirts are available for purchase through the Winfield Community Development Group’s Facebook page.
