Friday morning Washington School District cancelled classes after a threat to safety was made on Snapchat, since then it has been determined that students posted false information against another student.

According to a second press release from Police Chief Greg Goodman and Superintendent Jeff Dicks, it was determined that “the student accused of making alleged threats involving the high school, never made the threats.” Upon further investigation it was found that “two students posted falsified information against a student and those who initiated the false and misleading social media posts may face further discipline and/or legal consequences.”

According to the release, law enforcement and school district staff will not share information about individuals involved, discipline, or legal ramifications. The last line of the notice states, “Moving forward, the district will continue working with students and staff on appropriate usage of social media.”
