The road to the dome for the Washington (8-1) football team gets started tonight and Davenport Assumption (7-2) is the first roadblock for the Demons when they meet for the first round of the class 3A playoffs.

If you like ground and pound football you’re in for a treat as both teams are in the top 10 in class 3A for rushing yards. The Demons have taken off offensively in the last five games averaging 57 points per contest. The one-two punch of dual-threat quarterback Luke Turner and runningback Jack Redlinger have combined for over 1,600 yards on the ground this season. Coming back from injury, Ryan Reighard provides a wrinkle to an already dynamic run game and in his return last week the senior racked up two touchdowns on just three carries. The Demons go up against a Knight defense that has given up just 28 points combined in their last four games.

The Knights have a solid one-two punch of their own as Jayce Levy and Ryan Wohlers have combined for 1,700 yards on the ground. Levy has showed promise through the air as well racking up over 1,000 yards completing his passes 56% of the time. The Demon secondary could be a huge factor as Levy is prone to turning the ball over with six interceptions on the year.

The fight to move on gets started at 7 p.m. tonight at Brady Street Stadium in Davenport. Tune into 106.1FM and kciiradio.com to listen to the broadcast.
