4-H County council members and other volunteer 4-Hers worked together in assembly lines to pack almost 50 items in reusable bags for 200 farmers of Washington County.  These bags are given to them during the harvest season as a reminder to stay safe. Photo courtesy of Washington County 4-H

Long hours in the fields are common this time of year for area farmers and Washington County 4-H members took a step to making it safer this week.

Volunteers with 4-H have delivered “Stay Safe, Take a Break” bags to about 200 farmers across Washington County so far this harvest. The reusable bags contained safety literature, granola bars, bottled water, safety glasses, note pads and pens, emergency contact signs, gloves, first aid kits, ear plugs, dust masks, flash lights, duct tape, reflectors, and more. The goal is for these bags to show appreciation and remind farmers to stay healthy and safe during the busy harvest.
