Washington School District’s certified enrollment is up to 1778.05.

Superintendent Jeff Dicks tells KCII News it is up 32.95 students. At last Wednesday’s school board meeting, Dicks said it’s hard to predict because districts put their data in and then pull it out to make adjustments, but his prediction last week was a slight increase or remaining flat. Taking a closer look at the figures, the number of students open enrolling out of the Washington district and into another is up 21 over last year. There was a decline of the students who chose to open enroll into the district, Dicks explains, “so our students in seats only increased 2.75.” There was an increase of students by four who open enrolled from Highland to Washington.

He says it’s good that Washington was more certified enrollment overall, but the district only ends up serving and keeping the funding for an additional 2.75 students, and thus serving a total of 1690.5 students.
