The Clear Creek Amana football team finished the 2017 season with a 3-6 overall record.

The Clippers were 3-4 in class 3A district four. CCA scored all of their wins in district play, beating Maquoketa 51-0, Center Point-Urbana 35-14 and Central DeWitt 29-14.

Offensively, CCA finished in the middle of the pack in the district with 2,654 yards. The Clipper passing game led the way with a completion percentage of 60%, best in the district and fourth in 3A, 1,589 yards, second most in the district and the third most passing touchdowns with 10. The Clear Creek ground game finished with 1,065 yards, seventh in the district. They averaged 18 points per game on the year.

Defensively, the Clippers surrendered 25 points per game, and recorded one shut out on the year. They ended the year with 440 total tackles, 46 tackles for loss, and 14 sacks, all numbers in the middle of the district pack. They forced 20 turnovers on the season, second most in the district.

On special teams, Clear Creek Amana led the district at 17 yards per punt return and were fourth at 19 yards per kickoff return.

Individually, the Clippers were led by Ethan Postler under center. He finished 139 of 230 on the year for 1,561 yards, ninth most in the state. He had nine touchdowns and nine interceptions. Postler’s favorite target was Darius Moore with 47 catches, third most in the state,  for 697 yards, fifth most in the state and four touchdowns. Matt Brimeyer led the Clipper ground game with 535 yards on 85 carries with three touchdowns.

J.J. Denny led the CCA defense with 49.5 total tackles. Tanner Cochran had a team best 11 tackles for loss including five sacks. Quentin Gisleson had six interceptions on the year to lead the team and finish third in 3A.

CCA loses 19 players to graduation.
