After receiving no proposals to remove the asbestos from the property at 302 West Main Street the Washington County Board of Supervisors has decided to change the timeline of the project.

The county purchased the two-story white house at 302 West Main Street and is looking to demolish it to create more room for parking. At a recent meeting, Washington County Engineer Jacob Thorius informed the board that area contractors are busy, “It sounds like there are a variety of reasons, both timing issues really. Several contractors said if they had more time to do the work instead of the deadline of December 31st they would have bid it. They’re busy doing their normal work, so to speak, trying to wrap that up before winter sets in.” The new timeline is for the asbestos to be removed and the house to be demolished by the end of February.
