A dog that had been missing after a two-vehicle wreck on Highway 1 was found nearby Tuesday.

Monroe, a hairless miniature dachsund, was returned to his family Tuesday after nearly a week on his own. The Washington County Communication Office tells KCII News, the small dog was found in a farm building near the wreck site. On November 8th, at 11:22 a.m. two cars collided at Highway 1 and 190th Street between Washington and Kalona. There were three dogs in one of the vehicles, and but only two were found after the collision. Two people were taken by ambulance to the University of Iowa Hospital, and a third went by private vehicle. Monroe is now back with his family.
