Hawks Take Two of Three in Wapello

The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk wrestling team opened the season Tuesday night at a quadrangular meet in Wapello.

Mid-Prairie fell to Eddyville-Blakesburg by a 57-23 count. The Golden Hawks got wins in contested matches from Miles Burrows at 152lbs by fall, Cory Allen at 182lbs by fall, Colton Allen at 195lbs by fall, and Isaac Boucher at 220lbs by fall.

The Golden Hawks got things on track beating English Valleys 48-33. Mid-Prairie got wins in contested matches from Cory Allen at 182lbs by fall, and Isaac Boucher at 220lbs by fall.

Mid-Prairie finished out the night edging Wapello in their home gym 42-39. The Golden Hawks didn’t win a contested match but still took the dual on the strength of seven forfeits.

Mid-Prairie is now 2-1 on the year and will next be in action Thursday when they travel to Monticello for a River Valley quadrangular against Monticello, Northeast Goose Lake and Tipton.
