In a matchup of KCII area teams Friday night the Highland girls basketball team opened the season with a win over the Keota Eagles 38-20 on the road.

The Huskies took control of the game early, holding a 15-7 lead after the first frame and took a 19-10 lead into the half. Highland put the game away with a 14-3 run out of the locker room that lasted the entire third quarter to build their lead to 33-13 going to the final period. Brylee Carolan led the Huskies, just missing a double double with nine points and 10 rebounds. Aly Stokes finished with eight points and 11 boards.
