One local woman researched her family members involved in World War I and then traced their footsteps in Europe and will be sharing her experience with the community.

Molly Daniel will be presenting “Over There! A Trip Along the Marne River” at the Washington Public Library. Director of the library Debbie Stanton is looking forward to the program, “And she basically studied some of her ancestors who were World War I veterans. And then she wound up going to France and following their footsteps. And she took a bunch of pictures and things. And she also studied a lot about other Washington County World War I veterans, and so she visited graves in France and a lot of the historical landmarks that they would’ve seen at that time. So, I’m really excited.”

Daniel is the granddaughter of Washington residents Martha Swift and John Wheelan. The presentation that Stanton calls a “travel log program” is in partnership with the library, historical society and genealogical society. It will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, November 4th.
