Increased interest in the 4-H Clover Kid program has led to the formation of a new club in Washington County.
A Clover Kid Club will serve the Wellman area beginning next week. Clover Kids is a 4-H program for youth in kindergarten through third grade that fosters positive relationships and builds life skills through hands-on activities involving STEM, literacy, healthy living, and communication.
4-H Coordinator Amy Green comments on this eighth Clover Kid Club in the county, “It actually has been a dream of mine since I’ve been in this position to be able to have a Clover Kid Club in every small community in Washington County. We’re made up of a lot of small towns and a lot of them are very active and powerful towns, so we’d love to be able to have a local opportunity for kids of that community.”
The Wellman club was made possible by a large enrollment in the Little Hawks club which served the Mid-Prairie community. Fourteen kids are enrolled in the Wellman club, some of them coming from the Little Hawks club and others being new members according to Green. There is still room for more kids to register. The first meeting is Monday at 6:30 p.m. at the Asbury Methodist Church. The club plans to meet the fourth Monday of every month, and all youth and parents interested in this club are encouraged to attend.
