The Riverside City Council approved the sale of the city community building at their recent meeting.

After weeks of discussion the council held a public hearing for the sale of the property located at 81 East First Street to John Sojka. The only comment was from engineer Glen Meisner of MMS Consultants, who voiced some concerns about stormwater drainage from the neighboring Pickering building that flows into a pipe underneath the community building. The council approved selling the building for $33,400 with a clause that the drainage of the building not be altered. Sojka’s plan is to place two or three retail businesses in the building, and to make improvements on the floor and exterior while maintaining the historical aesthetic of the building.
