The Winfield-Mt. Union football team had three players recognized as part of the class A district 6 all district teams.

Jayce Malone headlined the awards for the Wolves being named to the first team. The senior was the leader of the offensive line as a tackle. Head Coach of the Wolves Scott McCarty described his 6’3’’ 250-pound tackle as the “anchor of the line that could push some guys around.” He also collected the second-most tackles on the team with 42, including seven for a loss.

With Malone anchoring the tackle position, Jared Arnold put together a fine season at center and has been selected for the second team. McCarty describes his sophomore lineman as a player with “good feet and strong hands.”

The final all district player was Juanito Piper for second team. The sophomore linebacker was the captain of the defense, leading the team with 57 tackles and 11 for a loss. McCarty praised his smarts saying, “He always understood the game plan and where the plays were going.” On the other side of the ball he recorded nine receptions for 42 yards.

Winfield-Mt. Union finished the year 0-9.
