The future front of City Hall, facing east.

Conceptual designs of the new Washington Fire Department, Police Department and City Hall were presented at Tuesday’s city council meeting.

Kristofer Orth with Design Alliance explained the process that included meeting with staff, assessing the current municipal building, generated multiple building concepts, a budget analysis, and the committee is now working to present the selected building concept. The proposed plan will use the current building to house only the police station and city hall with a single public entrance on the east side. That portion of the project will use the existing structure, but the interior will be gutted and reconfigured with a price tag estimated at $1,215,875. The fire station will be added to the south of the existing building and will be tall enough for all of the equipment and vehicles, and be approximately 14,000 square feet. The fire station will be the first step of work and is estimated at $2.5 million.

The next step in the process will be public meetings to introduce the design to residents.
