The number of incidents Washington Police have had to respond to this year is up by over 100 compared to last year.

At Tuesday’s Washington City Council meeting Lieutenant Ron See shared the figures from year to date police have had 395 incidents that required reports by the officers, for the same time period in 2016 there were 262 incidents, a difference of 133.

See says the overall calls for service is similar, “What started all this is we realized there’s been an increase, we’ve been run ragged this year, but we aren’t sure why, because the actual calls for service, or calls that come into dispatch that we’re sent out on that may or may not generate some reports, they’re running about the same. This year we’re at 3,532, last year at this time we were at 3,524. So those are about the same. Like I said, these do not include any traffic accidents investigated, but this does include like OWIs, burglary reports, or anything like that. We’re not sure what’s going on.” See added he will look closer at the figures to see if there is an increase in certain types of incidents this year.
