From modern residential homes to old farmhouses, area residents can get a glimpse of the holidays at Winfield’s Tour of Homes.

The Winfield Community Development Group is hosting a tour of homes this Saturday, as well as a soup supper at the Winfield Veterans Building. The proceeds from both events will go towards the Rick Rodgers Community Pool which will open in Winfield the summer of 2018.

Winfield Deputy City Clerk Lisa Rees gives an update on the pool’s fundraising, “We’re just over $770,000 for the project. On December 13, we’ll go up and do a presentation with the Enhance Iowa board about our CAT (Community Attraction and Tourism) grant. We submitted a CAT grant, so we can get them more information and hopefully they’ll grant us the money.”

The CAT grant would pay for about 18% of the $1.5 million project. Tickets for the Winfield Tour of Homes are $10 and can be purchased at City Hall, the Winfield Library, or at the participating homes during the tour. There is a freewill donation for the soup supper, which will go from 5-8 p.m. Saturday. Details about this and other Winfield holiday events can be found on our Community Calendar.
