The Sigourney girls basketball team had a pair of reasons to celebrate at Iowa Valley Tuesday night.

Not only did the Savages score a 65-42 South Iowa Cedar League road win over the Tigers, they also saw Autum Barthelman break into the 1,000 point club. Barthelman scored her first career points on November 21st, 2014 when she went for eight points in her varsity debut as a freshman, a 52-48 loss to BGM. She scored 173 total points as a freshman. During her sophomore campaign she finished with 287 points. As a junior she reached the 500 point plateau early in the season during a 26 point outing in a 67-54 win at Iowa Valley November 29th, 2016. Barthelman finished her junior year with 434 points. Her career high came during her junior season, scoring 32 points in a playoff win over Danville. So far in her senior season Barthelman has 104 points through six games. The Savages are out to a 5-1 start to the season.
