The Washington wrestling team was back on the mat Saturday at Waukee for the Al Garrison Invitational and the Demons placed third out of 16 teams.

The Demons had a busy day winning four of their five duals. Their lone loss came against Johnston 49-18 but the Demons beat Benton Community 59-15, Urbandale 38-28, Ankeny Centennial 42-33, and Ballard 45-20.

Headlining the day for the Demons were Walker Ikerd and Logan Escher each going a perfect five for five in contested matches. Escher won all five of his matches by fall at 195 lbs by a combined time of 10:44. Ikerd had three falls, a 11-4 decision, and 10-8 decision at 120 lbs. Tanner Murphy had four contested match wins at 220 lbs with three by decision and one by fall. Demons that came out with three victories on the day include Dillan Sanders at 132 lbs and Mitchell Huisenga at 285 lbs.

After the day the Demons move to 15-2 in duals on the year. Washington gets back in action for the final time in 2017 tonight traveling to Wapello.
