The Washington girls’ basketball team got back in the win column Monday night after overwhelming first-year program Iowa City Liberty 45-29.

Three Demons were in double figures to carry the load en route to the victory. In the first quarter, the Demons forced the Lightning into turnovers by utilizing a stifling 1-2-1-1 press to take a 9-2 lead after eight minutes of play. The young Lightning team settled in however, and started to heat up from the floor to cut the deficit to 20-19 at the break. The Demons turned up their defense in the second half not allowing shooters open looks and cruise to the comfortable win. Brooke Stout had a monstrous second half scoring 12 of her 14 points and cleaned up the boards with 16 rebounds on the day. Addison Six had a productive night with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Sarah Nacos paced the Demons with 16 points in part by four threes in the first half.

With the win the Demons improve to 2-3, as the Lightning drop to 1-4. The Demons will try to carry the momentum into conference play Friday hosting Fairfield.
