Described as a “design oversight” the Washington City Council approved a $60,000 work change directive at their Tuesday meeting for the water treatment plant.

City Administrator Brent Hinson explained it’s unusual at this stage for a big change, but is necessary. The cause of the change is that a transformer was deemed too close to a door by Alliant Energy and must be relocated. The relocation will take approximately 58 feet of cable. The project does have a $160,000 contingency built in for change allowance, but this change will take up approximately 38% of it. The council approved the change but expressed they are displeased with FOX Engineering for the design oversight.
