It’s been four years since Washington had a white Christmas and there is a chance to break that streak this year.

State Climatologist Harry Hillaker says the unofficial definition of a white Christmas is having an inch or more of snow on the ground. He explains the odds of that happening Monday, “Still kind of iffy, even though we’re getting very close to Christmas now. There is some chances of snow coming up this weekend, particularly a small chance on Friday night, relatively small chance on Saturday night on the moment, and a fairly good chance actually on Christmas Eve, on Sunday where the current weather service forecast is going for a 50% of snow. The question is just do we have the moisture, we’ll definitely cold enough for snow with temperatures even in the daytime hours being below freezing this coming weekend.” He adds Christmas Day itself could be very cold with high temperatures in the teens.
